What is a PPA

PPA stands for Power Purchase Agreement. It is a contract agreement between Green IOT, and you, the customer. Green IOT pays all the upfront costs for the solar system, including its installation and any maintenance, and for the agreed term of the PPA, owns the system. The customer purchases the electricity that is generated by the solar system from Green IOT at an affordable rate for the term of the PPA. At the end of the PPA term, as our customer, you have the option to purchase the system from Green IOT, for as little as $1.

How does it work

With the beauty of Green IOT PPA, you will get the best of everything. Along with no upfront costs, you only pay for the electricity you generate from your solar system, and avoid the distribution costs, as you are generating power and then purchasing it from Green IOT at an affordable rate. This means you can start benefiting from your solar system straight away, and don’t have to worry about a large financial outlay to get started. Green IOT will take care of everything.

Is there nothing to pay upfront?

That’s right, there are no upfront costs! Once you sign up for a Green IOT PPA, we take care of the installation and management of your system. Once installed, you will only pay Green IOT for the solar your system generates, which is at a fixed low rate. At the end of the PPA term, you’ll also have the option to purchase your system back from Green IOT for as little as $1!

Do I own the system?

For the term of the PPA Green IOT own the solar system as we are taking on the risk of that asset. During the term of the PPA Green IOT will install, monitor and maintain the system, meaning you can remain stress free while seeing all the benefits of a solar system. The best part, is at the end of the PPA term, you will have the option to purchase the system from Green IOT for as little as $1

Do I still need electrical retailer?

Yes, your energy retailer will provide your connection to the national grid. Although your solar solution will be customised for you, to ensure you are receiving the maximum benefits, you will still require energy from the national grid at certain times, for example, at night, or when there is no sun to generate solar electricity.

What happens if there is a problem with my solar system?

Green IOT will take care of any maintenance required throughout the term of the PPA, as we want to ensure that your system is operating at its most efficient. If the solar system isn’t working correctly, there will be no charges generated, which is not in Green IOT’s best interests, thus, we will ensure your system is working efficiently.

What if I don’t use all power generated?

We do our best to ensure that the system we install is the perfect system for your home based on your energy requirements and previous usage, as with the PPA, you are required to purchase the energy your system generates. Although we try our best, there may be times when your system generates an excess amount of energy. In this scenario you may be eligible for a feed in tariff from your electricity retailer, if the excess is exported back to the grid. Alternatively, we could sign the PPA under consultation only which means you only pay for what you use.

What happens if I want to end the PPA contract early?

As stated above, you can terminate the agreement early and have the option to buy the system outright according to the buyout schedule.

Why can’t I use the system linked to battery storage for increased benefit

Battery storage is a developing product and the technology will at a point in time become a viable economic option for commercial solar PV. Currently there are no readily available residential battery storage solutions which can be combined with solar PV funding in Australia in an economical way.

How much electricity generate by a 6.6kw Solar system a day?

A 6.6kw Solar system generates average 22kwh a day.

How do you charge the electricity generation, and does it work during night?
